Is Planning permission required for a garden Annex?

The first thing to consider is the planning side of the project. We can build anything up to 30 square meters without a planning application. We can even add a kitchen or bathroom as long as the space is not considered habitable. This is ideal for a garden office or garden gym.

If however the garden room is larger than 30 square meters and the intention is for it to be considered habitable then the only way to go is with a full planning application.

Will you need building control for you garden Annex?
