Angled garden studios

At Ark design build we have been designing and building garden studios and offices all over kent Sussex and Surrey for over 10 years.

Sometimes a simple rectangle design is all that’s required but on occasion our clients either have a challenging garden or simply want to soften the visual appearance of the studio space. Project like these in Tunbridge wells, Sevenoaks, Tonbridge and crowborough have proven incredibly popular.

One big trend we have seen for our garden offices is the angled front corner design. This approach breaks the harsh line that a full rectangle space has and can invite the garden to flow fully into the the studio

This garden studio in sevenoaks, kent features a full canopy overhang with lights but takes the front corner of the studio off at a sharp 45 degree angle.

This softens its impact on the garden and also allows our clients an access point from the new patio in front with the steps to the side of the studio. The space now sits harmoniously with the landscape and becomes a stunning feature without compromising the space around it.

Details like a triple stack aluminium door coupled with the contemporary finish of cedar cladding makes this garden office a real stunning addition to the family home.

Another example is this art studio in Tunbridge Wells. The client wanted the build to sit into their well established and well loved garden area. An angled external wall to their store room section meant this was accomplished with ease. They opted for a thermowood cladding to help bed the space in.

Although an angle to the front is a great design detail, we have also made studios that have angled internal walls too. Not all gardens are square after all and many of our clients want to fully maximise the space available to them, especially in a smaller garden or a plot with an angled boundary line.

This print studio in tonbridge has a completely angled back wall. This not only meant our clients could utilise all of their available space to run their business from home, but could also use the long angled wall to place the machinery needed to complete their projects.

Painted in black for contrast and complete with a set of bifold doors. A tranquil and perfect work space.

Our clients in crowborough, east sussex wanted a full annex space created but also didn’t want to creat and angled void at the rear of their garden by keeping the rectangle style available with most fabricators. We designed and built (as well as taking care of a planning application to go bigger than permitted development) this wonderful space, implicating an angled kitchen area into the wall that ran in its angle. No space was wasted in this garden.
