We are a small bespoke garden room Company based in Tunbridge Wells, Kent offering a bespoke service to each and every client. Our projects are always built on site from the ground up using the best materials available. We are not tied to flat pack mechanics or factory built kit, meaning we can be much more flexible in the approach to both the design and build of our work. We also have the ability to adapt our projects on site when needed. As well as offering a complete planning permission service as part of our work, should one be required

ARK Design and Build do not believe in using cheap materials. Not when we can deliver for the same price using something much better. That’s why we let our clients chose every element of what we do from the start, rather than basing a price on cheap fixtures and fittings to be upgraded at a later date. We have no hidden ‘extras’ to pay. Many competitors offer Garden Offices from a certain price which may look appealing, but the reality is it may not include the things you will end up wanting or need. At ARK Design and Build we will discuss all possibilities within a thorough and detailed consultation. We can design a building or structure for you based on things you like or even replicate something you have seen before. Our clients always know from the very start exactly what they are getting. When we decided we wanted to put an office at the end of our garden I spent a lot of time researching local companies, speaking with those who run them and looking at their products. I knew then that I wanted Tim and the team at ARK to build it, but I also wanted it to meet all our needs, which meant saving up for the extras.
When the time came to get back in touch with Tim he was brilliant, helping us understand everything from the timeframe to the spec and the options available to us. We were also hugely impressed with Steffan, who built the whole thing himself and we are absolutely delighted with the result - a spacious and fully functioning office, with bi-fold doors and a toilet.
Nothing was ever too much trouble - despite us changing our minds at various points pre and mid-build! - and when we did experience the odd teething trouble (as should always be expected with any kind of build) the issue was always sorted immediately.

Tim and his team of Alex, Ian and Steffan designed and built for us a garden office for my wife to work from. This was on a sloping pitch of land towards the back of our garden. The team did a fantastic job from start to finish, including piling in the underpinnnings, building the actual office, and wiring in the internet and power. In particular, huge shout out to Steffan who was incredibly flexibly and helpful throughout the entire process. We were able to discuss and revise details of the original paper plan as we went and we saw how the office actually situated itself. Steffan provided options and suggestions based on his extensive experience, which meant we ended up with a final result that was even better. All mess was cleared away efficiently, and every single person we dealt with during the process was helpful and friendly. Would definitely use again for our outside building needs.

Tim and Piers were efficient and responsive from the outset, with the initial site followed quickly by provision and agreement on the design specification and costs. The process of obtaining planning permission was similarly efficient and hassle free. There was no slippage in the date when construction started, and the work here was carried out with the minimum of fuss and included lots of dialogue on options for tweaking aspects of the design and how the job was progressing. Even the few inevitable hiccups were handled quickly. I have no hesitation at all in recommending Ark for garden building design and build - we would certainly go to them for any projects like this in the future.

Having consulted a few other designers, including larger and national companies who offer a more restrictive and modular offering, we had a very specific view of what we wanted - an L-shaped building, inclusive of a small kitchen and bathroom. We also wanted a pitched and tiled roof and a gable window at one end so that the building would look more in keeping with our home and so we could maximise the location with a view down the garden. After a lot of research we found Ark who, unlike most, were willing and able to take on a more bespoke building.
Throughout the process from design to build, Tim, James and the Ark team were focused on our job, very communicative and willing to adapt with small modifications as the building was going up. They have an army of local contacts to take care of all aspects of the build, whether it be plumbers, electricians, internet connectivity, etc. Ark were quick to put in the finishing touches so that they wouldn’t leave with any snags and I am highly confident that if we find any issues that they will be quick to address them.

Addition Feb 2024: After such an enjoyable and successful experience in 2021 with Tim and his team we didn't hesitate to work with them again on our next project for a home gym and small office space.
