Do I need planning permission to build a Garden Annex?

In most cases the answer is yes. A studio can be built up to 30 sqm without planning but this would be classed as non habitable.

To class a space as habitable the project needs to have building control or be built under The Caravans Act. In these cases a planning permission is required and advised.
